The campaign ledger records a 1996 interview in which Hamawy said he spent five weeks doing medical relief in Bosnia through Benevolence International Foundation (BIF). The ledger also notes that government and 9/11 Commission sources later documented BIF’s support for Al-Qaeda.
What the evidence does not establish
The ledger states that no evidence was found showing Hamawy knew of terror financing or participated in it. The chronology matters: the public record about BIF’s later designation does not by itself establish Hamawy’s knowledge or intent during his relief work.
